Peyton is FOUR Weeks Old!

Little Miss Peyton is 4 weeks old today! Time sure is going by quickly! Peyton has a doctor's appointment on Friday, so I am excited to get an update on her weight and length! She is still wearing newborn clothes, but the ones with feet are getting a tiny bit tight and it is tough for Peyton if fully stretch out her legs.
We are currently working on getting into a routine- right now bedtime is anywhere between 8:30 and 10:00pm. She will wake up somewhere between 1 and 3am to nurse, then again around 5am & 8am. Sometimes I can get her to go back to bed until 10:30 or 11:00am which is really nice- but sometimes we stay awake after our morning feedings. Hopefully soon we can cut out one of the middle of the night feedings... hopefully.
Peyton is convinced that she is always hungry and will tell anyone who will listen all about it. During the day she will nurse every hour if I let her (and sometimes I do... is that bad??)... she doesn't take very many naps during the day and if she does they are very quick... most of my days are spent nursing or holding her.... as you can imagine I don't accomplish much around the house... oh well!
We had the chance to visit with lots of family members this week which Peyton thoroughly enjoyed- she loves being held and telling everyone how hungry she is! :)

Peyton is three weeks old today- I can't believe I've already been off from work for three entire weeks. It really feels like just yesterday I was pregnant...
Peyton has grown so much already- she is gaining weight and getting bigger each day. She is still wearing her newborn clothes- her 0-3 clothes are still way too big for her. I never thought I'd have a baby that wore newborn clothes for this long! We like to tell people that Peyton is petite. :)

I took Peyton to school today as I had some paperwork I had to do before the end of the year, plus I wanted to see my AVID class. Everyone loved her of course. Many people held her (after washing their hands, of course) and she slept for the most part. Tamara has the magic touch and can make Peyton stop crying in an instant. I am going to have to hire her for the summer- good thing she is only a mile away!!

We also went to visit the Banyar's while we were out and about. Joe had met Peyton last week, but Dalene hadn't yet- Peyton fell asleep on Dalene's shoulder within 5 minutes of being at their house- what a nice break for me to have a sleeping baby!! She looks completely different when someone else is holding her and she is quiet!!

As if we hadn't had enough fun for the day, we met an old high school friend for dinner! Nate and Josh were good friends in high school and college so it was great for them to catch up and tell their life stories. Peyton loved being held by Nate- he too had the magic touch. (I'm thinking that anyone who isn't me has the magic touch...)

We are thinking about going to visit my Grandma later this week... but it just depends on how crabby we are. We have been having a little colic issue the past few days, so it is hard to tell if we are going to have a good day or a cranky day.... and I really struggle with the cranky days- I feel so bad that I can't comfort her.

Nate and Josh are playing guitar hero right now and Peyton is fast asleep in her swing. I can't believe she is actually in her swing and sleeping... it's a miracle.

2 Weeks Old!

Miss Peyton is two weeks old today!!

We are loving every minute- watching her change and grow daily is the best. She is steadily gaining weight and will soon be back to her birth weight. Peyton still has her days and nights mixed up a bit- she sleeps ok at night, but has nice long naps in the middle of the day... I try to convince her that these naps would be great at 2 or 3 am, but apparently hunger is more prevalent at these hours! Josh headed back to work this week, so Peyton and I are determined to get into a routine at some point. So far this routine consists of sleeping in until 10:30 or 11:00am (after being awake just about all night), eating lunch, taking a nap, eating a snack, getting a clean diaper, having another snack, maybe a cat nap here or there, a few more snacks... and before we know it, Daddy is home! Phew!

Peyton is One Week Old!

I can't believe Peyton is already a week old.

Today we went to meet Great-Grandma Harris & Great-Grandpa Stearns. All of this traveling made Peyton very sleepy (and hungry, of course)! We were exhausted by the time we got home.

Great-Grandpa Stearns came all the way from Oshkosh, WI to see Peyton. We traveled to Scottsdale to meet Great-Grandma Harris.

Introducing Miss Peyton Elayne!

Peyton Elayne Heilner was born on May 12th at 6:36pm. She was 6 pounds 12 ounces and 19 inches long. Of course we think (know) she is just perfect.
We are adjusting to life as a family of 3 quite nicely. Josh gets lots of sleep at night, Peyton sleeps whenever she wants, and I sleep... rarely. Peyton lost about 9 ounces of weight since she was born, so I am having to wake her every 2 hours to feed. Sometimes she eats for 20 minutes... other times 5. She ate for 2 1/2 hours yesterday- I guess she was hungry!
