After lunch at Liberty Market with Brady & Lisa, we headed over to the splash pad directly behind the restaurant.
Peyton wasn't quite sure about the water at first so she watched Brady run around for a bit.
Then she decided to have a seat and really have some fun!
I've never seen such a wet child (sans bathtub/swimming pool) in my life. She was drenched from head to toe. And since we weren't planning on visiting a splash pad (had no idea it was there), I didn't have a towel or dry clothes for her. She had a very cool ride home. :)

Reading...
I love reading... it's not secret to most people... I've really always loved reading. In high school, a friend and I used to exchange books more than we exchanged notes (no, we were NOT nerds!) Now, I exchange books with my Grandma, sister, friends... and anyone else who is willing to trade. I just started using the library... I like to have my OWN copy of a book... to save for a rainy day, or to trade really. And my sister once told me how dirty library books are... nasty really. But wouldn't you think that people who use the LIBRARY are clean folks who like to wash their hands? I wish.
I'm currently reading:
I had no idea this book is based on a true story... so much for being an informed reader I suppose! Unfortunately this book is taking me a bit longer to read that usual. It is a bit on the long side, but thankfully the plot has picked up (I was bored out of my mind in the beginning) and it is become a quicker read!

Dutchess
By now most people know that we are down to having just one dog. We lost Dutchess back in April. I've been completely devastated- thankfully I have Peyton to keep me busy.
We adopted Dutchess when she was about 6 months old (maybe?). Her and Duke got along great- Dutchess was much more timid than Duke and Duke was definitely in charge, but they loved each other and cuddled on the couch often.
Josh had taken both of the dogs to my parents on Saturday, April 24th. Josh and my dad took the dogs to the dog park and they all had a great time. The dogs stayed at my parents during the day while Josh went to a concert. After the concert Josh picked up the dogs and headed home. Unfortunately he was in an accident just a few miles from home (but still in the middle of the desert on the way to Maricopa). When he opened the car door to take the dogs out (in case the car caught on fire or something) Dutchess took off. I'm sure she was scared from the accident (she was skidish to begin with), and then when Josh started chasing her it probably scared her even more. My dad and I went and looked for her the next morning, and Josh and my mom looked for her on Monday, but no one has seen her since.
I just feel awful about the whole thing- I can't imagine how scared she must have been and I just hope that she either found a good home right away or was killed right away. I know that sounds awful, but I hate the thought of her being hurt in the desert or having to hunt for food and water. She was a pet- not a wild dog (although some would argue that she was part coyote).
Most people have been very understanding about the situation and can really feel for me. Others don't know quite what to say and end up saying the wrong thing and making me feel even worse, but I know it's not on purpose.
Dutchess had such a good life with us- and I hope that she remembers us fondly- as we remember her. I miss her everyday.

Water Table
Peyton was very lucky to receive a fun new watertable for her birthday from our good friends Tamara, JJ, Mayah, & Ashtyn.
I'm not sure who is enjoying the water table more-- Peyton or Duke. In any case, it keeps both of them busy! :)
Peyton's 1 Year Check-Up
I took Peyton to her well-check on May 17th (ok, so I'm slow in posting the details!)
Her stats were as follows:
Weight: 16 pounds 9.5 ounces (3rd percentile)
Length: 28.25 inches
Head Circumference: 17.75 inches
Our little girl is growing so fast! She is still wearing 6-9 month clothing, but it really depends on the brand as well. In some brands she can still wear 3-6 months and in others she can wear 12 months. In terms of shorts/pants, however, she is still in 6 months and maybe a 9 month every once in a while.
People always like to tell me "oh my, some babies are born that big!" Thank you, Peyton, for being on the small-ish side and not weighing 16 pounds at birth! I get tired carrying you around now... can't imagine if you had been this big months ago.
Peyton is walking and running like crazy. It's hard to keep up with her at times. She loves chasing Duke and racing for the stairs. You can't turn your back on her for one quick second. She recently discovered the doggie door and it's convenience. Every once in a while she will drop a toy out the door and then look at me like "well, my TOY is outside, I MUST go get it!" Nice....
